It had previously been the mean office of the Sociedad de Socorros Mutuos Unión Obrera de Calviá and it was inaugurated as such in 1908. After the refurbish of the building, the city council of Palma recovered this space for cultural purposes. It has a periodical program that includes music concerts, theatrical performances and cinema (every Friday and Sunday unless there is another kind of show scheduled).

These facilities also serve as a social center, for which it features a large space with television, daily newspapers and wifi with computers at total free use,  self-service vending machines that dispense coffee, soft drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.

The upper floor is available to both Village neighborhood associations: Association of Residents of Calvià Vila and la Asociación d'Amics Calvianers. In this  space  there will also be mounted small art exhibitions organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Calvia.
