The 17th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival has scheduled the screening of two documentary films at Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani about Tom Jobim, the sovereign master of the transformation of Brazilian popular music.
The second title is Águas de Março, an emotional documentary directed by Roberto de Oliveira that explores the life and work of the legendary musician.
In the days following December 8, 1994, the date of Jobim’s death, the musician’s body was honored by his fellow citizens in the funeral chapel installed in the famous Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro. The flora, fauna and dazzling landscapes of his homeland were one of the main sources of inspiration in Jobim’s work and the recurring motif that appeared in countless of his songs, such as Águas de março or Sabiá.
It is on this little-known aspect of the Brazilian’s personality that Águas de Março focuses and delves deeper. In addition to having images of Jobim performing with Banda Nova in 1990, sharing the stage with Chico Buarque or in the historic duet that brought him together with Elis Regina in the interpretation of the song Águas de Março.
