Tete Montoliu has been the most international jazz musician our country has produced. Sponsored by Lionel Hampton and established as one of the greats of the genre, his figure has been capital for the projection of the language of jazz to the world from the European continent. This tribute concert to the great Tete Montoliu closes the XVI edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival.
Over the course of his career he recorded more than a hundred albums where he made clear his contribution as an absolute jazz musician and as a pianist of this language with his own identity.
This extraordinary proposal to keep the memory of his figure and his work alive and on stage coincides with the twenty-five years of his absence and the celebration in 2023 of his 90th birthday. Celebrant a Tete Montoliu show includes special appearances by the Mallorcan singer Maria de Mar Bonet, the famous Valencian saxophonist Perico Sambeat and the members of the Ignasi Terraza Trío.
The main axis of the repertoire is centered on a selection of pieces that define the Tete Montoliu universe, through his own themes and those of those musicians and genres that he reinterpreted with the seal that distinguished him among the greatest.
Since its inception, the Jazz Voyeur Festival has been synonymous with high quality. Its director Roberto Menéndez, passionate about this musical genre, has been in charge of putting together a program that has contributed to elevating the local music scene and has managed to bring jazz fans from all over the world to discover Mallorca.
This sixteenth edition offers five concerts from November 4 to December 15, 2023, plus a Music and Film Series and four master classes taught by the main artists that make up this year's lineup. Both the music and film series and the master classes are free of charge.
