On November 29, 2024, the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini (Lucca, Italy, 1858-Brussels Region, 1924) is commemorated. To celebrate this anniversary, Acadèmia 1830 is organizing a lyrical gala dedicated to the works of this composer. Conducted by the Portuguese José Ferreira Lobo, it will feature the soprano Raquel Lojendio as a soloist.
The melodic inventiveness of the operas and his dramatic capacity have made Puccini one of the main opera composers in the history of music. Within his world, women occupy a central and especially tragic place in operatic roles. In most cases they do not end well: Tosca, Mimi, Manon Lescaut, Madama Butterfly, etc. In this gala you will be able to hear some of the best-known moments of his operas.
