As is tradition at the Jazz Voyeur Festival, this 17th edition ends with a gospel music concert. This time with a production by Gospel Greats that represents a community culture where free expression and beauty go hand in hand: Bridget Bazile & The New Orleans Gospel Choir. They present The Streets of New Orleans.
A native of Metairie, Louisiana, Bridget Bazile graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. Awarded the prestigious Leontyne Price Competition, she was also awarded the second prize of the Metropolitan Opera National Council and the first prize of the Meistersinger Vocal Competition in Graz, Austria, in 2001.
She has performed lyrical roles in operas by Purcell, Puccini, Mozart, Handel, Verdi and Gershwin.
She has also been the principal soloist of the New World Ensemble, Moses Hogan Chorale and the Moses Hogan Singers.
Bridget Bazile has been acclaimed in major theatres around the world and is recognised as one of the most eminent voices of her generation in the field of Negro Spiritual.
The musical director is Frenchman Vincent Balse, a graduate of the Bordeaux Conservatory and the famous La Chiagiana academy in Siena. The turn of the century marks the beginning of her long relationship with the city of New Orleans, where he has been present in the cultural life of the city since 2000. He has performed on numerous occasions with the Louisana Philarmonic Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre and has received the highest honours in the city.
He has performed in venues around the world with solo performances as a pianist or with violinist Maxim Vangerov, the Fine Arts Quartet, Maestro Rostropovich and Wynton Marsalis.
The Balearic artist invited to this concert is Ánima Gospel Mallorca.
