The Oriental Arts Department of the ACA Music Foundation pays tribute to Antoni Caimari, the twelfth; and to Master Chen, who recently passed away.
The tribute takes place with a concert by Rodrigo Rodríguez, presenting the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese flute.
Rodrigo Rodríguez is a world-renowned shakuhachi musician and music producer.
The shakuhachi flute was introduced to Japan from China during the Nara period (8th century).
Initially, it was used for court music. But from the 16th century onwards, the komusō, a group of itinerant Zen Buddhist monks, developed a practice of sound meditation.
