Two great jazz pianists, Cuban Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Spanish Chano Domínguez, have come together to form a spectacular duo. The fusion of these two famous artists brings together two pioneering musical languages that we can hear at the 15th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival.

Rubalcaba's Cuban roots intermingle with Domínguez's deep-rooted flamenco and jazz roots creating a unique show for jazz lovers.

The music of composer and pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba (Havana, 1963) is a powerful fusion of Cuban and American jazz. His sounds, both melodic and rhythmic, are full of exciting influences. In 1978 he founded his first group, Proyecto, in which he performed as drummer, pianist, composer and arranger.

In 1986, at the Jazz Plaza festival, he surprised the great American trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, recording the LP Gillespie en vivo con Gonzalo Rubalcaba, one of his greatest works. Throughout his career he has won four Grammy Awards, two of them Latin, and has received 17 nominations.

For his part, Chano Domínguez (Cádiz, 1960) began in music at the end of the 70s with the Andalusian rock group Cai. Later he became part of the Hixcadix band and later, alone, he dedicated himself to exploring all the ramifications of contemporary jazz.

Today he is one of the most famous flamenco jazz musicians, a genre, the latter, that he cultivated thanks to the great love of his father. Chano Domínguez, National Prize for Current Music 2020, has achieved an unusual integration between the rhythms and languages of jazz and flamenco. He plays tangos, tanguillos, bulerías or fandangos on the piano respecting the traditional structure of jazz.
