Jazz/Takes Supergroup is one of the most complete projects in the world of jazz. A quartet that has four legendary musicians in its ranks: Bill Evans, Niels Lan Doky, Darryl Jones & Harvey Mason. On their tour of Europe, they stop for the first time in Mallorca to participate in the 15th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival.
Jazz/Takes Supergroup is based on one of the most successful concepts of the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective, that of interpreting the canons of well-established genres of contemporary music through the lens of jazz.
Their repertoire consists of a mix of their own original compositions and jazz interpretations of iconic songs from genres such as Grunge (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden), Disco (Chic, Abba, Sister Sledge), French Electronic (David Guetta), Heavy Metal (Metallica), Hip Hop (Nas, Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest), NY Post Punk (Television, Patti Smith, The Ramones) or UK New Wave (New Order), among others. .
The concert features as a guest the Big Band of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears, a large-format formation dedicated to jazz music directed by composer, producer and bassist Toni Cuenca.
The 15th Jazz Voyeur Festival is held from November 4 to December 7, 2022 in Palma and schedules four concerts with leading figures in jazz and jazz fusion, a cycle of music and cinema and three free masterclasses given by the main artists that make up the festival. program in this edition.
