Two Mallorcan performers, the soprano Marga Cloquell and the pianist Bartomeu Jaume, star in the second concert of the XII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival held in the church of s'Alqueria Blanca.
Marga Cloquell focuses her career on opera and zarzuela, genres in which she has performed works such as Lucia de Lammermoor, La Cambiole di Marriage, El Reloj de Lucerna, La verbena de la Paloma, Il segreto di Susanna, La Bohème, L'elisir d'amore, Falstaff, Die Zauberflöte, Cançó d’amor i de guerra, Carmen, La Traviata, Don Pasquale, Hoffmanns Erzählungen, Romeo und Julia, Il Tabarro or Suor Angelica.
She also oratorios such as The Messiah by G. F. Handel, Gloria by A. Vivaldi, Misa Brevis by J. Haydn, Requiem and Coronation Mass by W.A. Mozart, Requiem by G. Faure, The Passion according to Saint John and Mass in B minor by J. S. Bach or the Ninth Symphony by L.V. Beethoven, among others. She is currently a singing teacher at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.
For his part, Bartomeu Jaume is a professor at the Valencia Conservatory of Music. He has performed in numerous important venues and festivals in Spain, France, Italy, Argentina, the United States, Mexico, Romania, England, etc., where he has offered piano recitals, chamber music recitals or solo concerts with orchestra. He has recorded thirty CDs, with works by Asencio, Palau, Mas Porcel or Joan Maria Thomàs. He has taught performance courses and has been invited as a jury member for numerous international piano competitions. He has a doctorate from the University of Valencia and an academic from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos.
