Matt Bianco + Swingin Tonic

3 Votes

This British music band, formed in 1983, was a pioneer in the fusion of pop with jazz and Latin rhythms. Their latest album is The Essencial Matt Bianco (2022), which they now present at the XVI Jazz Voyeur Festival in this inaugural concert of the new edition.

Led by vocalist Mark Reilly, the band achieved enormous success in Europe with their first album, Whose Side Are You On? (1984). Two years later they released the self-titled album Matt Bianco, with the additions of Jenni Evans as female vocalist and Mark Fisher, as keyboardist, composer and producer.

With the new century, and after more than twenty years recording and performing together, Mark Reilly and Mark Fisher decide to separate amicably. Until 2004, they published Matt's Mood, with which they embarked on a successful tour of the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States.

Matt Bianco's music is characterized by its smooth and sophisticated style; It fuses elements of bossa nova, samba and jazz, creating a unique sound that has conquered fans around the world. On their current tour they perform favorite songs from the British group's musical repertoire, with all the hits re-recorded or remixed.

The Ibizan group Swingin Tonic, made up of seven musicians with a long artistic career, will perform as opening act. It presents a repertoire with great influences from swing, jazz, manouche music, soul, Rock & Roll and Blues. Swingin Tonic makes each performance an extraordinary and unforgettable moment. This year they release their first album with their own songs composed in Spanish, Italian, English and French, which reveals the origin of the band's members.

Since its inception, the Jazz Voyeur Festival has been synonymous with high quality. Its director Roberto Menéndez, passionate about this musical genre, has been in charge of putting together a program that has contributed to elevating the local music scene and has managed to bring jazz fans from all over the world to discover Mallorca.

This sixteenth edition offers five concerts from November 4 to December 15, 2023, plus a Music and Film Series and four master classes taught by the main artists that make up this year's lineup. Both the music and film series and the master classes are free of charge.
