The Teatre Principal de Palma hosts one of the season's must-see events: "Memoirs of Hadrian", a theatrical adaptation of the famous novel by Marguerite Yourcenar. Starring veteran actor Lluís Homar, the play immerses us in the psyche of one of Rome's most fascinating emperors at the moment he hands over power to his successor, Marcus Aurelius.
Directed by Beatriz Jaén, the production moves away from conventional historical recreation to offer a dialogue between the 2nd century and the present day. Hadrian is portrayed not just as a wise, Hellenistic leader, but as a man facing his own loneliness, the contradictions of politics, and the construction of a public image.
