📖 Geometry, tension, and balance by the sea

9 Acute Uneven Angles stands as a structure in constant tension, where nine Corten steel angles rise from the ground without visible supports or hierarchies. Rather than conventional harmony, the piece embraces collision: lines cross, converge, and exert pressure on each other in a physical dialogue that turns geometry into an immediate spatial experience.

Balancing mathematical precision and perceptual uncertainty, the sculpture creates an open paradox: the more rigorous its construction, the more unpredictable its visual effect. Facing the Mediterranean, the work unfolds its tension against the steady horizon, inviting viewers to explore it from different viewpoints under varying coastal light.

🎨 Bernar Venet and conceptual sculpture

Bernard Venet (France, 1941) is a seminal figure in conceptual art since the late 20th century. After beginning his work in the 1960s with scientific diagrams and mathematical systems, in the late 1970s he translated these concepts into three-dimensional space using essential geometric components: lines, arcs, and angles.

His distinctive visual language examines order, chance, and indeterminacy through monumental steel sculptures that transcend minimal art, activating public open spaces worldwide.
