📖 The story
The events in Ciutadella during the first days of July 1558 marked the city's history forever. The assault by the Ottoman fleet, one of the most destructive military actions of its time, left behind devastation and grief.
That invasion did not only destroy the city: it wiped out entire families, condemned hundreds of its people to slavery and left a wound in collective memory that endures to this day.
🏛️ A stage with 2,000 years of history
The Roman Theatre of Pollentia is the only Roman theatre preserved in Mallorca. Every summer the Mostra de Teatre of Alcúdia returns it to its original purpose, turning its stone tiers into an open-air auditorium.
ℹ️ Good to know: open-air performance with limited capacity. Arriving early is recommended, along with a light jacket for the evening. The performance is in Catalan.
ℹ️ Part of the Agost a la fresca programme, with which the Culture Department of Alcúdia Town Council fills August with theatre, music, cinema and popular culture in the streets, courtyards and open spaces of the town.
✨ Historical memory, live music and Roman stone under the August sky. The closing night of the Mostra de Teatre.
