📖 About the concert

Elgar wrote his Cello Concerto in 1919, just after the First World War: an intimate, melancholic work that has become a cornerstone of the repertoire. It is performed by Kian Soltani, one of the most outstanding cellists of his generation.

After the interval, Also sprach Zarathustra, Richard Strauss's tone poem inspired by Nietzsche, whose opening sunrise became world-famous through 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra (OSIB) presents its 2026-2027 subscription season at the Auditorium: eleven concerts from October to May, always on Thursdays, with leading international soloists and its principal conductor, Pablo Mielgo.
