It is a fairy tale-ballet in two acts and three scenes composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Russia, 1840-1893), who put music to the adaptation that Alexander Dumas (the father) did to the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, by Ernest Hoffmann.
