Since its start, the Mallorcan artist Xavier Busquets (Palma, 1960) has developed his career within the abstract expressionism and action painting. His work The Line was selected by the Broadway Gallery in New York for presentation at the art fair Armory Show 2004.
In Expresión Urbana (Urban expression) he uses the same approach taken in previous exhibitions, showing a number of unfinished cities with an earthy and ocher background. These works are characterized by violent graphite strokes and dripping paint onto serene backgrounds. A careful composition contrasts with the impression of a very quickly done and unfinished work.
Most of them, in mixed techniques, acrylic and mixed pigments on canvas, have been made in the atelier of Damian Heine in Deia.
