For this exhibition at Gallery Louis 21 in Palma, Cristina Garrido (Madrid, 1986) has produced a new work that questions the position of art in the contemporary world, its reception, distribution and value. In it she explores the alternative meaning given to objects through its placement in space.
She uses objects that are found or readymade - as Marcel Duchamp called them -they lose their previous significance and assume a changing identity when they are contextualized again, they stop being one thing to become another. With an almost archaeological approach to the environment and art, the artist investigates how technology has altered the artistic production and explores issues of authorship and ownership.
