The cycle Feim Films dedicates the new edition of Feim biopics to the documentary Llànties de foc (heat lamps ), a film about the figure of Joan Mascaro i Fornés (Santa Margalida, Mallorca, 1897 - Cambridge, UK, 1987). This universal Mallorcan was a writer, teacher and translator, a facet that the documentary includes.
Joan Mascaro i Fornés was born into a peasant family and since he was a child he was gifted for languages. His work as a translator was conducted from a clear ideology: to establish a bridge of dialogue between civilizations, encourage the use of nonviolence to resolve conflicts and to find the true spiritual path for the realization of the individual.
His translation of Sanskrit into English of Bhagavad Gita (1962 ) and Upanishads ( 1965 ) or the Dhammapada that have been published uninterruptedly for more than 40 years and the copies sold in Europe and the United States are in the millions.
The documentary Llànties de foc is directed by Nofre Moya and Silvia Ventayol, who will participate in the symposium to be held after the screening.
