Mo’ Better Blues is the third and final title scheduled for the music and film series of the 16th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival.
1990 American film starring Denzel Washington, Wesley Snipes and Spike Lee, who was also in charge of directing it. After the successful Do What You Must, Lee made this ambitious film where he intended to pay tribute to the world of jazz.
It follows a period in the life of fictional jazz trumpeter Bleek Gilliam (played by Washington), his affairs with two women, his passion for music and rivalries within the band, and the relationships with his manager and friend that will cause him more of a problem. It is a film with a lot of strength and passion, with a vibrant visual style, with great performances, a spectacular soundtrack that will not disappoint jazz lovers and with a huge interpretive duel between Washington and Snipes. It is projected on VOSE.
Since its inception, the Jazz Voyeur Festival has been synonymous with high quality. Its director Roberto Menéndez, passionate about this musical genre, has been in charge of putting together a program that has contributed to elevating the local music scene and has managed to bring jazz fans from all over the world to discover Mallorca.
This sixteenth edition offers five concerts from November 4 to December 15, 2023, plus a Music and Film Series and four master classes taught by the main artists that make up this year's lineup. Both the music and film series and the master classes are free of charge.
