With dramaturgy by Pere Fullana, Petites tragèdies is a free adaptation of the four-piece cycle by Russian writer Aleksandr Pushkin. The action takes place in Western Europe at different times.
The plot of three of the works is based on human passions: love and deception, jealousy, greed and envy, which the author turns into dramatic manifestations. The theme of the fourth play, Faust, is based on love and ambition without measure.
It could be said that Pushkin is the first postmodernist, he freely uses any context, freely originates literary games and deceptions, and handles quotations as he pleases. The result of this freedom is the life that beats in each of his lines.
In this version, Fullana transfers these parables to the present day: actions, spaces, costumes... everything, to make the audience feel that the truly essential part of these small tragedies continues to happen still here and now.
Petites tragèdies is performed by Rodo Gener, Carles Molinet and Marina Nicolau.
