Tomeu Ventayol Cifre (Alcúdia, 1945) is a renowned painter and sculptor who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Barcelona, and a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the Balearic Islands.
Cubism and surrealism are the two movements that make up his main source of inspiration, which has led to the development of a work that is framed in geometric abstraction, through which he investigates the geometric shapes and organic elements of his around, making them the protagonists of his speech.
Both in the pictorial and sculptural aspects, Ventayol creates minimalist compositions, characterized by the effectiveness of the minimal gesture. His pictorial works are very simple from the point of view of the elements that make them up. Regarding sculpture, there is also this tendency to simplify forms. Iron and aluminum are the artist's materials par excellence.
