New concert of the 2023-2024 season of the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears. Conducted by its owner Pablo Mielgo, it is dedicated to Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor.
In the 5th Symphony, Mahler returns to a purely instrumental form of expression and marks the beginning of a new creative phase. The five movements of the symphony show a great variety of themes, which hardly convey each other.
Its premiere took place on October 18, 1904 at the Gürzenich in Cologne, under the direction of the composer.
