Performance, installation, video and photography are the areas in which the South Korean artist Kimsooja (Daegu 1957) works. Her work, in a subtle but provocative way, invites us to question our existence.
In the installation To Breathe: Mandala creates a sanctuary that brings us to the world of serenity. It is covered in one same color and contains an American record player, from which arises, in contrast, the sound of the breath of the artist and the slight roll of the disc. Through this installation Kimsooja connects the body, the essence and the feeling of the space, the sanctuary.
