Opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi (Italy, 1813-1901), based on the stage adaptation of the novel La Dame aux Camelias, signed by Alexandre Dumas (son). La Traviata is an unusual piece in the production of Verdi for its realistic character. It is an intimate drama in which the actors, when it premiered in 1853, first wore contemporary costumes and not historical, as was customary.
This production of the Teatre Principal de Palma features musical direction by Pablo Mielgo and stage direction of Francisco Lopez and the participation of the Cor del Teatre Principal and the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears.
The cast is made up by: Raquel Lojendio (Violet Valery), Jose Manuel Sanchez (Alfredo Germont), Natalia Salom (Anina) Bartomeu Bibiloni (Barone Douphol), Roberta Minucci (Flora Bervoix), Josep Miquel Ribot (Dottor Grenvil), Javier Franco (Giorgio Germont), Roger Berenguer (Gastone) and Joan Miquel Muñoz (Marchese d'Obigny).
