'Waste', by David Curto and Samuel Salcedo

The Gallery Ferran Cano celebrates its 40th anniversary (1973-2013) with this exhibition featuring the work of two young Spanish artists, under the general title of Waste but with two different proposals.

On the one hand, it presents a series of seven photogravures Une semaine mauvaise _ (7.0 mara) by David Curto (Tortosa, 1973), whose title refers us to the graphic novel by Max Ernst Une semaine de Bonté, although in this case it’s about a fateful week in which disaster reigns. Curto, who lives between Spain and Colombia, is a recognized audiovisual professional who currently figures as representative for the International Canon for everything related to Full HD and audiovisuals.

Meanwhile, Samuel Salcedo (Barcelona, 1975) transmits the idea of being out of place through sculptures of some characters that are overwhelmed by reality. Covered in polychrome, these works are made of materials like wood, resin, aluminum or lead, resulting in a contrast of languages.
