As a photographer, Benjamin Katz (Belgium, 1939) has played an essential role in giving artists a familiar face: for roughly thirty years he has been making portraits of prominent artists. No other photographer has ever been so close to the creation of art in Germany. He is particularly close to Markus Lüpertz, with whom he has maintained a friendship since the 60’s.
Innumerable photographs of this artist can be found in Katz’s archive, including a number of unique portraits, which allow the viewer to gain a rare insight into the work and personality of Markus Lüpertz.
