Chicago Mass Choir, ‘B.B. King Spiritual’

Gospel music is always present in the Jazz Voyeur Festival programming. In this case it is an interesting collaboration that combines gospel and Spirituals with the music of B.B. King, an icon of blues music. It promises to be an exciting performance that fuses two different genres into a unique musical experience.

Chicago Mass Choir, out of respect and fidelity to the gospel tradition, presents B.B. King Spiritual, a heartfelt tribute to the king of the blues and legend of American popular music. In it he reproduces the purely gospel music that the great teacher recorded in 1959, in an album that was an emotional return to the hymns of the churches of his childhood in Mississippi.

With this tribute to B. B. King, Chicago Mass Choir brings back to the stages of the present the old hymns that return to us the fire and beauty of the past. In 2017, this group was awarded the most prestigious award in Gospel: Stellar Award for the best Choir of the Year.

The Balearic artist in this concert is Palma Gospel Singers, a musical choir located in Mallorca that contributes to the growing universalization of Gospel music and praises solidarity and the best human values in people of any belief.

Since its inception, the Jazz Voyeur Festival has been synonymous with high quality. Its director Roberto Menéndez, passionate about this musical genre, has been in charge of putting together a program that has contributed to elevating the local music scene and has managed to bring jazz fans from all over the world to discover Mallorca.

This sixteenth edition offers five concerts from November 4 to December 15, 2023, plus a Music and Film Series and four master classes taught by the main artists that make up this year's lineup. Both the music and film series and the master classes are free of charge.
