The fourth edition of the International Music Festival Torre de Canyamel opens with this concert which brings together on stage two brilliant Russian interpreters of international fame: the pianist Dina Parakhina, professor at the Royal College of Music in London, and the violinist Boris Brovtsyn, winner of the prestigious Tibor Varga International Violin Competition and guest soloist with numerous orchestras as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the Rundfunk Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin.
The program consists of Sonata for violin and piano no. 1 Op 13, from Faure Gabirel.; Impressions d'enfance, George Enescu; and Nocturne and Tarantella Op. 28, of Karol Szymanowski.
The International Music Festival Torre de Canyamel is sponsored by Kawai and Caixa Colonya and is organized by the Mallorca Summer Academy and Torre de Canyamel, a spectacular square tower built in the XIII century to defend the inhabitants of the valley of Canyamel, in Capdepera. Currently it serves as a museum and a center of events, art exhibitions and musical performances. A splendid place to enjoy good music.
Oscar Caravaca is the artistic director of this edition, which will be held from June 21 to 26 and will be overturned in the close relationship between colors and music, as a tribute to Russian composer Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915) in the first centenary his death. Besides concerts, there will be master classes of pianist Dina Parakhina and a lecture by pianist and musicologist Luca Chiantore.
With the aim of promoting new generations of musicians, the course will feature concerts by artists under sixteen years old like Thumpussorn, a Thai girl that with just eight years old made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York a few months ago.
The presentation of the festival in the first concert will be in charge of the Royal College of Music in London, one of the most prestigious in the world. All concerts will be broadcast online.
