This exhibition presents, posthumously, a selection of the work of Uruguayan artist Enrique Broglia (1942-2013), both his artwork and his sculptural aspect. His last major chimera are some birds appearing systematically, sometimes sectioned and other dismembered but always with the desire for freedom and the desire to spread their wings.
In the last decade of his life, Broglia combined his famous and powerful sculptures of bronze and steel with the magic of color and glued paper using the technique of déchirage. Thus he achieved a powerful language of fireproof personal gestures present in the exposed pieces at Can Prunera.
Enrique Broglia came to Mallorca in the 80's from Paris, where he left numerous sculptural works, most notably a piece at the Pompidou Museum of Contemporary Art. He lived in different parts of the island until he finally settled in Alaro. In 1996 he returned to his native Uruguay, where he died of a heart attack in 2013.
