With this production, the company La Resistència Teatre has won the Premi Art Jove 2023 de les Illes Balears. A physical theatre work created and written by Camila Grigera, Ángela Tortajada and Lola Vera, who also directs.
After the unexpected death of Yaya, Ángela decides to face her pain by turning the logic of the world upside down by organising her absent grandmother’s birthday party. This event confronts her with another conflict that she has been denying. Now she has not only lost her grandmother, but she also feels motherless. Her friend Cami, who sometimes seems to be herself or all the women in the world, accompanies her and makes her see that the party hides questions that she must be willing to face.
The staging of Yo soy una fiesta presents bodies in constant movement, dancing, suffering, talking, laughing and crying. In addition, it is enriched with disruptive visuals and voices that seem to come from far away. The play is a drama disguised as a comedy: although it is easy to laugh and empathize with the characters, the background is deeply sensitive. Performed by Camila Grigera and Ángela Tortajada. Languages: Spanish and Catalan. Recommended age: from 12 years old.
