Premiered with great success in the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in 1995, Knives in Hens is the first work of Scottish playwright David Harrover (1966). It is one of the forerunners of the current 'in-yer-face-theater', a type of experimental and provocative theater that took off in the nineties and has its origins in the theories of Antonin Artaud.
Gavinets a les gallines (Knives in Hens) is set in a rural landscape and tells the story of a love triangle between an adulterous husband, his young peasant wife and a mysterious miller. The relationship between these last two will end in betrayal and crime.
