This year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the great American trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, a key figure in the history of jazz. With this concert in Big Band format directed by Antoni Miranda, the III Cicle Jazz a Calvià pays tribute to his person and his work.
Dizzy Gillespie composed emblematic songs such as A night in Tunisia, Manteca, Be-bop or Con Alma, present in the repertoire of many current musicals.
With this concert we want to make his music known with the personal vision of the guitarist and arranger Antoni Miranda (1960), a person related to the Sa Pobla Jazz Festival, who brings his personal stamp to the trumpeter's compositions.
