The Nit de l'Art (Art Night) of Palma was the first event of its kind held in Europe. It was initiated in 1996 promoted by two associations of gallery owners: Art Palma and the Independent Association of Art Galleries Baleares (AIGAB).
It is an artistic, ludic and social event, in which the people of Palma take to the streets and enjoy until midnight the proposals offered by art galleries, museums and cultural centers. Most of them inaugurate exhibitions with which they open the new season. The squares in the center of the city also become the settings for art performances, installations and concerts.
