On April 30 will be celebrated the International Jazz Day, an initiative of UNESCO and the great pianist Herbie Hancock. This year the theme chosen is Against Intolerance, in homage to the singer Billie Holiday (1915-1959), the most admired female voice in jazz. April 7 was the centenary of her birth.
Scheduled for today are two concerts, one of them is this one by the Big Band of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears organized by the Consell de Mallorca, featuring female voices that interpret unforgettable songs of Billie Holiday.
The other one is by the Municipal Band of Palma and the trio led by Miquel Angel Perikas in Xesc Forteza Municipal Theatre.

April 25: mini concerts at the Sóller Train Station of Palma, in the Plaça del Mercat, Via Roma and Plaza de Cort
April 28: Readings, monologues and dialogues together with a jazz trio by students of the School of Dramatic Art
April 28: screening of the film Lady sings the blues
April 30: Big Band performance of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears
April 30: performance of the Municipal Band of Palma + Perikas Trio
May 1: performance by pianist Biel Durán
