Javier Franco & Orquestra del Festival de Santanyí

Javier Franco is considered one of the great Spanish baritones. In this third concert of the XII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival he performs accompanied by the Santanyí Festival Orchestra, directed by Vicent Balaguer. The concert is held at the Caló den Busques in Cala Figuera.

Javier Franco was born in La Coruña and studied at the Higher School of Singing in Madrid and at the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Liceu de Barcelona, where he also attended improvement courses with
Alfredo Kraus and Renato Bruson.

He has won international singing competitions such as the Viñas de Barcelona, the Francisco Alonso International Competition in Madrid, the Luis Mariano de Irún or the Rocca delle Macie in Siena (Italy).

He has performed in theaters such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Palacio de la Opera in La Coruña, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. , Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Verdi in Sácer and Salerno (Italy), San Carlos in Lisbon, Bijloke Concert Hall in Ghent (Belgium), Bunkamura Orchard Hall (Tokyo) or Biwako Hall in Otsu (Japan). He has collaborated with teachers such as Zubin Mehta, Jesús López Cobos, Guillermo García Calvo, David Parry, Donato Renzetti, Renato Palumbo or Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez.

The Santanyí Festival Orchestra is a new group made up of prestigious musicians from important Spanish orchestras and young instrumentalists who are still perfecting themselves in musical centers in Spain and abroad. Many of them are part of young orchestras of the importance of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC), the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester or the European Young Orchestra (EUYO).

It is directed by Vicent Balaguer, violin professor at the Torrent Professional Conservatory, guest professor at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears and professor at the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia, the Young Orchestra of the Valencian Community and the Orquestra de Joves Intèrprets dels Països Catalans.
