The album, recorded before the play was first presented in 1970, and highlights the political and personal confrontations between Jesus and Judas Iscariot told in the Bible.
In the play, the action takes place during the last week of Jesus' life. It begins at Bethania on the Thursday preceding the entry into Jerusalem and ends with the crucifixion.
