With this Spanish pianist (Bilbao, 1932) the annual cycle of Serenates d'estiu (Summer Serenades) takes off. He gave his first concert at age 13, and in 1958 was first prize in the International Contest of Liverpool, an award that launched him to fame.
He has since performed in countries all over the world and played with over 200 orchestras, among which the philharmonics of Berlin, New York, London, Chicago and Los Angeles. In 1992, the Spanish government awarded him the National Prize for Music.
