Pioneer in the recovery of Renaissance and Baroque music, Jordi Savall presents himself in the beautiful setting of Bellver Castle with his viola da gamba and the concert entitled La Reveuse. This Catalan artist born in Barcelona in 1941 plays the viola da gamba, and is also conductor and musicologist specialized in early music.
Savall has recorded over 120 albums since 1968 as soloist, accompanied by other artists, as a member of other groups and directing formations founded by him.
During a whole acclaimed career of early music, Jordi Savall has received numerous awards. In 1988 he was named Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Ministry of Culture of France and in 2012 was elevated to the rank of Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres and Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. In 1990 he received the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Generalitat de Catalunya, and eight years later the Ministry of Culture of Spain awarded him the Gold Medal of Fine Arts, and since 1999 he is honorary member of the Vienna Konzerthaus.
