José Mercé presents ‘Mi única llave’

On October 30 he received the award Ambassador of Andalusia and one month later he started his tour introducing his new album, which now stops in the Sala Magna of the Palma Auditorium. Mi única llave (2012) was produced by Javier Limón and has the support of some luxury guitarists, Diego del Morao, Pepe Habichuela, Tomatito and Manuel Parrilla.

It is the eighteenth album by this gypsy flamenco singer born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1955, considered one of the greatest phenomena given by the genre. He debuted in 1968 with Culture Jonda 14. Bandera de Andalucía, although his claim to fame would come thirty years later, in 1998 with his album Del amanecer which has since sold over 600,000 copies.

Throughout his career, José Mercé has maintained the pure essence of ‘el cante’ and has covered songs as Clandestino, by Manu Chao, Al Alba, of Luis Eduardo Aute, Qué bonito es vivir, by Louis Armstrong, or Te recuerdo Amanda, of Victor Jara. Mi única llave is the most contemporary album of the singer in which he dares three tangos agitanaos.
