Festival Jazz Palma with this ..." />
The fusion of jazz with world music meets at the first edition of the Festival Jazz Palma with this concert at the Teatre Municipal Xesc Forteza.
Behind the Kora Jazz Trio is Abdoulaye Diabaté, pianist and main composer of this project, that was created while still living in Dakar. He has worked with great musicians such as Salif Keita or Papa Wemba and directed the National Orchestra of Senegal, before creating his particular formula that combines the piano - an emblem of the western temperament - with the kora - symbol of African modulation-, reviewing the music of giants like Charlie Parker.
Abdoulaye Diabaté (piano), Manu Marchès (double bass) and Boris Caicedo (timbales).
Gnawa Collective, for his part, is the result of the lively expression of the Gnawa culture and sufi in dialogue with jazz, abstract photography and video art. A project that reactivates the culture of memory through a multidisciplinary experience that integrates history, art and society.
Walid Mountassir (guembri, oud and vocals), Pierre Cabarat (sax and flute), Josafath Larios (drums) and Tomás Becket (piano).
