Can Gelabert II joins the II Festival de Miradas de Mujeres ( II Festival view of women)with an exhibition of Mercedes Laguens and Maria Isabel Uribe. Mercedes Laguens (Zaragoza, 1953) presents in the Imperial Room Soy capaz . Letanía para una mujer (I can, litany for a woman), a proposal which, by a symbolic gesture, wants to deepen into the capacity of conviction of the word. For the action / exhibition the artist has counted with the participation of women of different ages forming part of a reading group of the Binissalem City Library.
María Isabel Uribe (Colombia), intervenes in the Salas Florentines with Abraçant l'espai (Embracing the space), a labyrinthine installation with different shirt sleeves tied together and finished at the ends with gloves. They suggest arms that move in a tangle of hugs throughout space.
The Festival Miradas de Mujer (Views of Women) is organized by the Asociation Mujeres en las Artes Visuales (MAV) (Women in the Visual Arts) and aims to get the exposure and spread the work carried out by women in the world of art in Spain deserves. On the island they have joined the initiative, with more than fifty participants, artists, curators and lecturers.
