Last concert of the IV International Music Festival Vila de Santanyí, which is framed on this occasion the church of Calonge. Featuring Estonian baritone Lauri Vasar, accompanied on the piano by Miquel Estelrich.
Lauri Vasar (Tallinn, 1970) is one of the great international baritones. He has performed in major European opera houses, as soloist (with a wide repertoire) or playing the lead roles in operas like Capriccio i Intermezzo of Strauss or Poulenc's Dialogues of Carmelites.
He is accompanied on the piano by Mallorcan Miquel Estelrich, professor of piano and founder of the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands, of which he was director. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Spain, France and Germany and is one of the most outstanding pianists for recovering Balearic composers. The result of this work is the book Compositors Mallorquins, for which he received the National Prize of the Ministry of Culture in 1987. He holds a PhD from the University of the Balearic Islands and is pianist of the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears since its founding in 1989.
The International Music Festival Vila de Santanyí is coordined by the pianist Miquel Estelrich and organized by the city council. Held until September and the collection of all concerts will go to social and conservation and dissemination of musical heritage of Mallorca projects.
