The grandeur, mystery and drama of London has been an inspiration, for nearly fifty years, the British artist duo Gilbert & George. Formed by Gilbert Proesch (Italy, 1943) and George Passmore (United Kingdom, 1942), have developed their work within conceptual art, performance and body art, being especially famous for their living sculptures.
In London Pictures they present a set of disturbing, violent, sometimes absurd and sometimes disturbing photographs, reveal what can be described as the nervous system of everyday contemporary society: the impulses, outbursts, sorrows, hopes, strong will and desires of every day urban life.
The photos are a visual novel that reveals the ever nonjudgmental urban drama with all its nuances of hope and suffering.
