It is one of the leading figures of the Spanish abstract generation of 50s. Without belonging to any group or ascribe to any style, Mompó began investigating in the field of figuration to evolve towards abstraction and end up finding his own language.
His work is dominated by the influence of light, typical of Levantine painters. A Mediterranean light that is reflected in his paintings through the predominance of white and bright colors, small graphics in bright colours dot his paintings full of subtle figurative resonances.
