The Polish pianist Marcin Wieczorek (1996) stars in this concert of the 41st edition of the Deià International Music Festival. Graduated in 2015, he is currently studying under the tutelage of Stefan Wojtas at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (Poland).
Since 2007, Wieczorek has won numerous awards in competitions for young pianists. In 2019 he obtained the special prize at the Euregio Piano Competition in Geilenkirchen (Germany), among others.
The program consists of Sonate in D major kv. 311 (W.A. Mozart), Ballade in g minor op. 23 (Frédéric Chopin), Faschingsschwang aus Wien op. 26 (Robert Schumann), Variations in b flat minor op. 3 (K. Szymanowski), Cracovienne fantastique op. 14 nº 6 (I. J. Paderewski), Nocturne in B flat minor op. 16 nº 4 (I. J. Paderewski), Variations in A major op. 16 nº 3 (I. J. Paderewski) and Sonate nº 7 op. 83 (Sergey Prokofiev).
The International Festival of Music of Deià, with artistic direction by Alfredo Oyágüez Montero, is held from May 9 to September 19 with concerts in the Music Room of the Casa Museu de Son Marroig, one of the former properties of the Archduke Luis Salvador in the Serra de Tramuntana. From its terraces you can contemplate a spectacular sunset over the sea.
