Matilde Escalas (Palma, 1870-1936) was a Mallorcan composer, interpreter and pedagogue whose image was reflected in the painting Miss MacFlower by Santiago Rusiñol. Escalas belongs to the prolific generation of Modernism composers (Carme Karr, Narcisa Freixas, Lluïsa Denís ...), although little handwritten or published work is preserved.
The tenor José Manuel Sánchez and pianist Francesc Blanco recover the work of this composer with the recording of Matilde Escalas. Obra inèdita album that they are now presenting at this concert with the actress Paloma Navarro within the events of International Women's Day. With works for voice and piano and piano alone.
