Matthieu Schweiger

The third concert of Pianino 2019 is played by Matthieu Schweiger, who plays piano works by J.S. Bach and F. Chopin. In addition, the book Autour des 24 Préludes, by J.J. Eigeldinger The XII International Festival of Classical Piano Music is celebrated in the Cell of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand of the Cartuja de Valldemossa with five concerts from May 18 to June 15.

Formed with Eric Heidsieck, Frank Krawczyk and Ruben Lifschitz, Matthieu Schweiger has always given a very important place in his musical career to chamber music and lied. He completed a cycle of improvement of chamber music and obtained a scholarship from Mécénat Musical Societé Générale to work with Peter Feuchtwanger and Roger Vignoles in London.

Parallel to his position as professor of piano and pianoforte at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Musique, Danse et Théâtre de Mulhouse, since 2006, he dedicates a large part of his time to the study of instrumental performance and research on the context historical and cultural, in relation to the instruments of the period for which the works were written. Such is his interest, that in 2017 he invited Pierre Goy to the Conservatory of Mulhouse to present a very little-known instrument such as the pantalon, predecessor of the pianoforte.

Matthieu Schweiger is the pianist of Double Face, with which he regularly performs using different instruments, depending on the repertoire. He also forms a duo with  violinist Elsa Ladislas.
