This show, which combines music and theater, recounts the terrible plague epidemic that devastated the city of Milan in 1630, affecting social and artistic life. It is the proposal that the Solnegre ensemble presents at the XXV Palma Ancient Music Festival.
The music that makes up the program was written by musicians who were affected by the plague that year. Between piece and piece, some characters give us their testimony; a story that will be strangely familiar to contemporary audiences.
The program is made up of:
Giovanni Battista Fontana (1589-1630):
Sonata no. two
Sonata no. 4
Giovanni Paolo Cima (1570-1630):
Capriccio at 2
Dario Castello (1590-1630):
First sonata for sopran solo
Sonata seconda soprano solo
Sonata VIII for doi, violin and bassoon
Performers: Cristina Altemir (violin), Antoni Llofriu (slump), Ferran Pisà (theorbo) and Miquel Costa (actor).
