The plastic aspect of the 53 Festival de Pollença is embodied in this installation by Japanese artist Yuko Shiraishi (Tokyo, 1956), which is housed by the stone walls inside the church of the Convent of Sant Domingo.
Shiraishi's work - whether painting, sculpture or installations - exudes Eastern sensitivity, although with a Western imprint which she assumes naturally. An example of this cultural crossroads is Netherworld, her latest work presented first in London and now in Pollença.
In this installation Shiraishi does a review of the burial customs of ancient society and an ancestral culture as the Egyptian.
