They are an electronic pop legend, one of the most influential bands in music in recent decades and responsible for the birth of the club culture. New Order was founded in Manchester in 1980 by members of the post-punk band Joy Division, dissolved following the suicide of vocalist Ian Curtis.
In 1983 their single Blue Monday (the best-sold track of history published by an independent label) launched them to stardom and forever changed the course of music. With the second single, Confusion, something similar happened and, incidentally, placed the band in the field of dance music.
In the early 90's they decided to take a break and do solo projects. Two years later they got back together and after new dissolutions, in December 2011 they published their double live album Live at the London Troxy. The band currently made up by: Bernard Sumner (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Stephen Morris (drums), Gillian Gilbert (keyboards), Phil Cunningham (guitar) and Tom Chapman (bass).
Besides the legendary New Order, the event of Mallorca Rocks this Thursday also brings the first performance of a Majorcan formation in this festival. L.A., the band led by Luis A. Segura just got back to the island after a tour of U.S. scenarios and participate in several festivals in Europe.
They present FLM SLNT (2012), a E.P. with six songs that represent a 360-degree turn from their previous album, Heavenly Hell (2009).
